           U.S. Highway 441, as it's called today, was in those days just two-lane highway that connected Palm Beach and Dade County, an area that was fairly  isolated and far from any real estate development which existed to the east. The area practically undeveloped was a natural habitat for large alligators, snakes and other wild animals inhabited the land. A prominent sight long the road in the oak forests were "chickees", open-air huts that have been used for ages by Florida's Seminoles.

        Seminoles were originally bands of Creek Indians from Georgia and Alabama who migrated to Florida in the 1700s. The area was dubbed the Old Plantation Water Control District when an irrigation and drainage district in was constructed in 1911. There were also signs along the highway which advertised land for sale at prices of "$10 down, $100 a month".

       The City Of Plantation covers about 22 square miles of prime Southern Florida Real Estate located in Broward County just 10 miles west of The City Of Fort Lauderdale between the towns of Coral Springs and Hialeah. Plantation's precise location is 27.06° north of the equator and 82.37° west along Highway 84 near the Atlantic coastline.

       Plantation offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including 37 parks with about 284 acres of green grass lawns walkways trails and playgrounds, extensive recreation programs for all ages, including tennis, swimming, golf, baseball, football, soccer, track and jogging. Protected by Thor Guard Lightning System. The 26,560 square foot Multi-Purpose Facility was constructed in 1982. Inside the facility, there is a basketball court, exercise room, locker room, game room and several classrooms. Outside, residents can enjoy amenities such as two Olympic size pools, a hydro-play area, indoor/outdoor lighted basketball courts, exercise room, roller hockey rinks, volleyball courts, playground area, jogging track, eight lighted baseball diamonds, three lighted football fields, a 400 meter running track and a ten acre lake for remote control boats
 
      Central Park Aquatics Complex boasts two Olympic size pools, each 50 meters by 25 yards, and a 500 square foot water playground for toddlers. The facility regularly hosts competition swim and dive meets and is home to the Plantation Swim and Dive Teams -both ranked among the top in the nation. Both pools and the water playground are open to the public year round, and lifeguards are always on duty. Water Aerobics and Arthritis Aquatic Programs are offered, in addition to an extensive swim lesson program for children and adults of all ages and skill levels. Locker rooms, a pro shop and bath house facilities are available as well. Picnic tables and canopied areas compliment the facility.
